Islamabad: On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, global stability, and equal opportunities for development. In a message issued on September 21, 2026, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and its contributions to United Nations peacekeeping missions.

According to Press Information Department, the International Day of Peace this year is themed “Invest in Peace, For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” emphasizing that peace extends beyond the absence of conflict to include economic and social well-being, protection of rights, and inclusion. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of an equitable social order and collective efforts to address hatred and discrimination.

Prime Minister Sharif noted that Islamic teachings and Pakistan’s Constitution provide a foundation for safeguarding human dignity and rights. He highlighted the government’s National Action Plan for Human Rights 2026, which aims to promote interfaith harmony, prevent hate speech, and improve access to justice. The plan also includes educational initiatives to cultivate values of respect and peaceful coexistence among future generations.

In his message, Prime Minister Sharif called on citizens to actively combat intolerance and discrimination, emphasizing the shared responsibility of government, civil society, and communities in promoting a culture of peace. He concluded with a prayer for lasting peace and prosperity for Pakistan and the world.
