Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from President Emmanuel Macron of France, during which they discussed Pakistan’s mediation in the Iran-U.S. ceasefire and regional peace initiatives, including the situation in Lebanon.
According to Press Information Department, President Macron commended Prime Minister Sharif for Pakistan’s successful mediation that led to a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, bringing both nations back to negotiations. He also extended his wishes for the success of upcoming peace talks in Islamabad. Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for France’s support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.
The conversation also addressed the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, with both leaders expressing concern over the violence and emphasizing the need for a swift resolution to restore peace. They agreed to maintain communication as efforts continue to resolve regional tensions.
