Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, to address escalating regional tensions and ongoing peace efforts.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed concern over the recent increase in tensions in the region and reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar following recent attacks. He emphasized the need for all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could jeopardize peace efforts.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed appreciation for Qatar’s support in the peace process that led to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and the inaugural round of high-level technical discussions in Burgenstock. Both leaders underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement, dialogue, and adherence to the commitments outlined in the peace memorandum.
The Amir of Qatar extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their significant contributions to regional peace initiatives. He assured the Prime Minister of Qatar’s ongoing support in these efforts.
