ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Ms. Zou Jiyai, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), at the Prime Minister’s House, marking her inaugural visit to Pakistan. The meeting focused on enhancing long-term partnerships in key sectors such as railways, agriculture, regional connectivity, renewable energy, and information technology.
According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of AIIB’s support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development and highlighted government priorities for sustainable economic growth. He mentioned policy reforms aimed at economic stability and the need for partnerships with multilateral financial institutions. The AIIB President expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in the bank’s establishment and showed interest in supporting strategic sectors programmatically. Both parties committed to broadening cooperation to promote regional integration and economic growth, with several high-ranking officials in attendance.
