Prime Minister Inaugurates National Technology Park in Islamabad, Announces Expansion Across Pakistan


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated the National Technology Park in Islamabad, marking a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan’s technological infrastructure. During the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister announced plans to establish similar facilities nationwide, including in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, aiming to foster a comprehensive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.



According to Radio Pakistan, the newly named ‘Daanish Technology Park’ is intended to be more than just an infrastructure project. The facility will serve as a hub integrating incubation centers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, IT experts, academia, small and medium-sized enterprises, and tech startups. In his address, Prime Minister Sharif instructed relevant authorities to commence a transparent bidding process to attract top national and international IT and AI companies to operate within the park.



Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, also present at the ceremony, emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation in Pakistan. She noted that the National Technology Park is a critical element of the government’s digital outreach strategy. The Minister highlighted the role of public-private partnerships in establishing small technology centers across sixty-five districts over the past two years, with one hundred and thirty-five centers currently providing youth with 24/7 internet access to enhance their skills.
