Prime Minister Highlights Radio’s Role in Awareness and Culture


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the crucial role of radio in public awareness and cultural promotion, particularly in the context of global challenges such as climate change, on the occasion of World Radio Day. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Radio Pakistan, FM stations, and private community stations, highlighting their significance in disseminating information and offering entertainment.



According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister pointed out that radio has been instrumental in shaping public opinion, especially on issues like climate change and its impacts. He noted that radio’s importance has grown in light of the ongoing struggles faced by developing countries, including Pakistan, which are among the most vulnerable to climate change.



The Prime Minister underscored the international nature of climate change, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address its effects. He acknowledged the consecutive challenges posed by climate change and stressed radio’s role in raising public awareness about these issues.



Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted how Radio Pakistan and community stations have fulfilled dual roles of information dissemination and cultural promotion, thus playing a significant part in the nation’s media landscape. The government’s pledge to promote these stations reflects its recognition of radio’s potential to contribute positively to society.
