Prime Minister Declares Economic Stability a Priority Amid Rising Concerns

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted that no entity will be permitted to destabilize Pakistan’s economy, emphasizing that the government’s economic achievements will be safeguarded. Addressing the Federal Cabinet, the Prime Minister criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its handling of terrorism and lawlessness, attributing these issues to the long-standing governance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the province.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the resilience of Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability, marked by State Bank reserves at historic highs, controlled inflation, and a targeted fuel subsidy. He noted improvements in fiscal discipline and remittances, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining economic progress.

The Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s utilization of an 800 billion rupees allocation aimed at counter-terrorism efforts, citing failures in strengthening the Counter Terrorism Department and upgrading police capabilities. The Prime Minister lamented the rise in terrorism and its impact on citizens and security personnel.

In response to the political tensions, the Prime Minister announced a joint delegation from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party would engage with PTI leadership to address issues through dialogue. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also committed to facilitating these discussions.

Additionally, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, condemning recent Houthi attacks and emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to support Saudi Arabia amid any aggression, highlighting the longstanding ties between the two nations.
