ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed efforts to be intensified to modernize Pakistan Railways, focusing on transforming it into a safe and reliable mode of transport. This directive was issued during a meeting with the Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister to ensure the timely completion of railway projects and to employ all available resources to enhance public travel facilities, emphasizing safety and affordability. He underscored the government’s intention to avoid imposing extra financial burdens on the populace amid the current economic challenges. Sharif highlighted the importance of improving the rail system to boost revenue.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to a public welfare agenda, aiming to improve departmental performance and advance national development. Minister Abbasi briefed Sharif on the operational status of Pakistan Railways, assuring that, in light of public convenience during the current Gulf situation, there will be no fare increases for trains operating nationwide.
