President Zardari Welcomes Cease-Fire in Gulf Conflict, Calls for Sustained Peace


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has welcomed the cease-fire reached between the United States and Iran, describing it as a timely step that offers space for dialogue and a more stable regional environment. According to Press Information Department, the President stated that Pakistan had consistently worked for de-escalation, highlighting the importance of peace for security and economic stability across interconnected regions.



The President expressed appreciation for the leadership of Iran and the United States for choosing dialogue over confrontation, and he commended the efforts of leadership in Washington, Tehran, and Islamabad, as well as Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, in fostering de-escalation and diplomacy. He also lauded Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar for their roles in advancing Pakistan’s peace efforts.



President Zardari acknowledged the support from countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt, crediting them with encouraging calm and dialogue. He emphasized that the cease-fire provides a crucial opportunity for the region to recover and urged for its consolidation through sustained dialogue and confidence-building, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace and stability initiatives.
