President Zardari Highlights Importance of Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

Islamabad: On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, President Asif Ali Zardari extended his greetings and appreciation to teachers in Pakistan and globally for their contributions to education and nation-building. The President emphasized the crucial role teachers play in imparting knowledge, nurturing curiosity, and shaping the character of young people, which ultimately benefits families and communities.

According to Press Information Department, this year’s World Teachers’ Day is significant as it marks the 60th anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. The theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” highlights the need to recognize teachers’ importance and provide them with the necessary professional support.

President Zardari stressed the importance of strengthening the teaching profession in Pakistan to improve education quality and expand opportunities for children and young people. He called for continued investment in teacher education and professional development to equip educators for the evolving needs of students in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

The President also acknowledged the dedication of teachers working in remote and underserved communities, emphasizing that the quality of education for many children relies heavily on the commitment of their teachers. He urged governments, educational institutions, and communities to collaborate in supporting and respecting the teaching profession.
