President Zardari Condemns Assassination of Iranian Leader Amidst Rising Tensions


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief over the assassination of senior Iranian leader Dr. Ali Ardeshir Larijani, amidst ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran. He extended his condolences to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.



According to Press Information Department, the President recalled Dr. Larijani’s visit to Pakistan in November 2025, where discussions centered around enhancing bilateral cooperation. He noted Dr. Larijani’s role in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations.



The President highlighted the ongoing escalation’s impact, pointing to human and infrastructure damages and the resulting economic repercussions and instability in the region. He urged for immediate restraint and cessation of hostilities, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as a means to stabilize the situation and prevent further loss of life and regional spillover.



Pakistan remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalation and peace promotion, with a readiness to facilitate dialogue and diplomatic efforts to defuse regional tensions.
