Islamabad: A meeting of the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices was held under the leadership of the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, as part of the government’s continuous oversight of the energy sector amidst regional tensions.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting included the Federal Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik, and other senior officials. They reviewed petroleum product stock positions and reported that despite global market volatility, domestic supplies remain stable, with diesel and petrol stocks adequately covered. The Petroleum Division noted that import and refinery operations continue to support stock levels.
The committee was informed of recent crude oil cargo arrivals, with additional shipments en route. Global markets remain tight with increased prices, affecting import costs and financing needs. The Finance Minister called for collaboration with financial bodies to facilitate imports, emphasizing the need for flexible financial arrangements.
The group also addressed domestic demand patterns and emphasized enhanced monitoring to prevent speculative stockholding. Provincial bodies were instructed to intensify oversight to maintain smooth distribution. Preparations for the Eid holidays and the harvesting season were discussed, with assurances of operational readiness from Oil Marketing Companies.
The committee reviewed monitoring improvements, including a digital dashboard for real-time stock visibility. Ongoing discussions with international suppliers aim to diversify sources and ensure supply security. The Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuous monitoring and proactive policy measures to maintain petroleum supply stability.
