Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed profound grief over the assassination of senior Iranian leader Dr. Ali Ardeshir Larijani, amid ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran. In a statement, he conveyed his condolences to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari recalled Dr. Larijani’s official visit to Pakistan in November last year, where discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation. He highlighted Dr. Larijani’s role in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations. The President observed that the escalation is causing significant damage and instability in the region.
President Zardari urged for restraint and cessation of hostilities, prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy. He expressed hope for stabilization and peace to prevent further loss of life and broader regional conflict. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting de-escalation efforts and offered to facilitate dialogue and diplomatic initiatives to help ease tensions.
