Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have extended greetings to those celebrating Nowruz in the country and across various regions. In separate messages, both leaders acknowledged the historical significance of Nowruz, marking it as the commencement of a new season observed for centuries in Iran, Central Asia, parts of West Asia, South Asia, and neighboring regions.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari expressed thoughts and prayers for the people in the region celebrating Nowruz under challenging circumstances. He specifically highlighted Afghanistan, noting that the illegitimate Taliban regime has deprived its people of the opportunity to partake in these celebrations.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the government’s responsibility to protect the religious practices and heritage of all communities within the country. He stated that the government is working alongside media, educational institutions, civil society, and religious leaders to foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
