ISLAMABAD, President Arif Alvi of Pakistan has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for the resolution of the Palestinian dispute, in line with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions, during a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi expressed deep sympathy and sorrow on behalf of the Pakistani people and government over the atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinian people for more than seventy years. He voiced profound distress over the recent events in Gaza, which have deeply affected the Pakistani nation, condemning the brutalities and terror reign by Israeli forces.
President Alvi strongly criticized the lethal bombings by Israel, highlighting the indiscriminate targeting of schools, hospitals, and the consequent loss of thousands of lives, including women, children, healthcare workers, journalists, and UN aid workers. He denounced Israel’s ethnic cleansing practices against Muslims and their forceful eviction from their territories.
In the conversation, President Alvi also expressed disappointment over the international community’s inaction to halt Israel’s aggressive actions in Gaza. He called for immediate international intervention to ensure a ceasefire, establish an open humanitarian corridor to Gaza, prevent further displacement of Palestinians, and find a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue as per UN resolutions.
President Mahmoud Abbas, on his part, described Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal and appealed for a halt to the hostilities across Palestinian territories. He emphasized the necessity of opening a corridor for delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
