Preparations underway to allow Amarnath Yatra from Baltal route in IIOJK

Jammu, June 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, although the final words officially from the authorities are yet awaited on the commencement of annual Amarnath Yatra but the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) is likely to nod for pilgrimage from the Baltal route for limited days with cap on pilgrims, despite the COVID-19 ravages.

The Delhi-based Amarnath Shrine Board, which manages the Hindu pilgrimage in IIOJK, had also invited tenders for cleaning, maintenance and other arrangements on the Baltal route on June 7 which is an indication that the authorities in IIOJK are considering the start of the Yatra from the Baltal route. Reports said that the last date for submission of tender was fixed as June 15, while the repair and maintenance of the Baltal route has already started. “The Shrine Board has invited tenders for cleaning of toilets, camps and maintaining Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Baltal besides septic tank at Neelgrath helipad,” reports said.

They further added that the District Administration, Ganderbal has asked people between the age group of 18 and 44, who have to render various services during the Amarnath Yatra, to visit the vaccination centers and get the jabs. On the other hand, the devotees, who would be unable to visit the Amarnath Cave, will be able to watch live telecast from the cave on their television screens on a TV channel daily from June 28 to August 22.

Meanwhile, the Amarnath Shrine Board has started granting permissions to the Langar Organizations for installing their langars at Baltal from June 28 to August 22. Pertinently, the permission being granted for setting up of langar is for 56 days which is the same duration for which the board had earlier proposed to hold the annual pilgrimage this year before the start of second wave of COVID pandemic, prompting it to suspend registration of pilgrims on April 18 within 18 days of its beginning.
