PM Shehbaz Sharif Orders Strategy for Food Exports to Gulf Countries


Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to monitor the supply and demand of food items to ensure national food security while exploring export opportunities to Gulf countries. During a meeting in Lahore, he emphasized the importance of tapping into regional markets amid global supply chain disruptions.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to focus on Gulf countries’ food requirements, ensuring their food security while maintaining sufficient domestic supplies. He instructed the formulation of a strategy to export surplus food items without compromising local needs and emphasized the importance of maintaining high quality standards in exports to Gulf States.



Additionally, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation was directed to facilitate sea route exports, and a committee was formed to review the food situation daily. Officials noted Pakistan’s agricultural sector has significant export potential. Shehbaz Sharif also tasked Pakistan’s Ambassadors and trade officers in Gulf countries to actively promote exports.
