PM Shehbaz Sharif Mandates Zero-Tolerance Stance on Corruption in Law Enforcement

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated a stringent zero-tolerance policy against corruption within the nation’s law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of capacity building to protect citizens’ lives and property.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a high-level meeting in Islamabad focused on the country’s law and order situation and matters related to the Ministry of Interior, Prime Minister Sharif directed that resources be fully utilized to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement personnel. He stressed that all recruitment processes within the Ministry, including those for the Federal Investigation Agency, must be conducted on a merit basis.

The Prime Minister also underscored the necessity for modern training and expertise for law enforcement personnel to effectively address contemporary security challenges. He instructed that state-of-the-art equipment, modern technology, and professional resources be provided to these agencies.

The meeting further revealed that a currently under-construction prison in Islamabad is set to become operational by September. Additionally, updates were given on the performance and future projects of the Federal Investigation Agency, Islamabad Police, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, Federal Constabulary, Capital Development Authority, and other agencies under the Interior Ministry.
