ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has mandated the use of digital wallets for the disbursement of funds under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) as part of the Ramazan Relief Package, aiming to boost transparency and efficiency in the delivery of welfare services.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s directive came during a review meeting in Islamabad, where he commended the relevant institutions for ensuring the transparent distribution of financial assistance. The meeting highlighted an extensive awareness campaign about the Ramazan package, utilizing various media platforms to inform eligible individuals.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparent and inclusive social protection, Prime Minister Sharif urged authorities to enhance outreach efforts and ensure the timely delivery of funds to the remaining beneficiaries. The meeting was informed that payments have been made to 89 percent of the beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package.
