ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed strong confidence that the implementation of 5G spectrum technology will significantly bolster the country’s agricultural and industrial sectors. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad dedicated to the awarding of 5G spectrum licenses, the Prime Minister underscored the technology’s potential impact on various facets of the economy.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif praised the transparent auction process for the 5G spectrum and acknowledged the efforts of the involved ministries. He expressed optimism that telecom companies would ensure comprehensive 5G coverage across the nation, reaching even the most remote villages and towns. This, he noted, would empower the youth to take full advantage of modern technological advancements.
Highlighting international collaborations, the Prime Minister pointed to Zong’s active role in the auction process as evidence of the robust Pakistan-China relationship, which continues to thrive in sectors such as technology.
In related comments, Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima noted the sale of 480 MHz of spectrum during the auction, asserting that this positions Pakistan at the forefront of spectrum availability in the region. Furthermore, the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority reported that the auction generated 509 million dollars, marking a significant fiscal achievement for the country.
