Islamabad Officials Announce Comprehensive Eid Security Measures

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, convened a high-level meeting to review security and administrative measures for Eid-ul-Fitr and Chand Raat, focusing on ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow during the celebrations.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the meeting was attended by senior officers from the Islamabad Police and district administration. The discussions centered on strategies to provide foolproof security across the capital, with Shakarparian National Park, Lake View Park, and Daman-e-Koh Park designated as family parks from March 20 to 23. F-9 Park will remain open to the general public during Eid-ul-Fitr.

The briefing highlighted tightened security at checkpoints, sensitive locations, and city entry and exit points. Additionally, a comprehensive security plan has been devised for Eid congregations at Eidgah, central mosques, and Imambargahs. A special traffic plan, particularly for Faisal Mosque, was also formulated.

IGP Rizvi stressed that security is the top priority and emphasized full coordination between security and traffic police. He directed increased police patrolling in parks and public places and additional personnel deployment. A flag march will be conducted to maintain law and order, while the central control room at Islamabad Safe City will remain operational.

Rizvi instructed that the traffic plan be shared with the public in advance and warned of strict legal actions against transporters charging excessive fares and illegal activities such as one-wheeling and drifting. Special camps will be established at major centers for security, traffic, and other services.

All officers were directed to ensure special traffic and security arrangements around commercial centers, markets, and shopping malls on Chand Raat. IGP Rizvi concluded by urging all relevant departments to collaborate as a team to ensure citizens can celebrate Eid peacefully.
