LAHORE: The Horticulture Agency Lahore has initiated a plantation drive along Atta Bakhsh Road, aligning with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Green Lahore” vision. The project aims to enhance the environmental landscape by increasing greenery in the area.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, MD PHA Ahmad Usman Javed explained that the plantation work has commenced with the planting of bamboo along the 5-kilometer stretch of the road. The bamboo plants are being positioned near the sewage drain adjacent to the road to improve environmental beauty and expand greenery around the drain.
Javed noted that while plants currently exist along the road, 3,600 new bamboo plants are being added as part of this initiative. He stated that the plantation drive is expected to be completed by next week. The effort is part of a broader campaign to extend green spaces across Lahore, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision for a greener and more verdant city.
