Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik convened meetings with key international energy firms to explore investment prospects in Pakistan’s energy and critical minerals sectors. These discussions, held separately with representatives from Morgan Hughes Energy, Tejara Capital, and Vitol Asia, centered on expanding foreign investment and cooperation.
According to Press Information Department, the initial meeting involved Gregory Bloom, President of U.S.-based Morgan Hughes Energy, and Ahmad Waleed, CEO of Tejara Capital. The dialogue emphasized expanding U.S. investment, particularly in Balochistan’s critical minerals and the oil and gas sector. Bloom outlined plans for collaborative projects with Tejara Capital, focusing on minerals development and optimizing field production in Pakistan. Minister Malik welcomed the interest, affirming the Government’s dedication to boosting domestic energy output and fostering international partnerships.
In another session, Minister Malik met with Kieran Gallagher, CEO of Vitol Asia, to discuss ongoing collaborations in the petroleum sector. The Minister acknowledged Vitol’s successful start of bunkering operations at Gwadar and supported their initiative to convert High Sulphur Fuel Oil into Very Light Sulphur Fuel Oil, promising governmental backing for the project. Discussions also touched on opportunities arising from Pakistan’s new bonded storage policy, aimed at enhancing energy logistics and storage capacity through engagement with global energy firms, including Vitol.
These meetings underscore Pakistan’s strategic focus on enhancing global energy alliances, attracting foreign investment, and ensuring long-term energy security and economic development.
