Islamabad: On International Women’s Day, the President of Pakistan extended greetings to women both in the country and globally, emphasizing their indispensable role in national progress. According to Press Information Department, the President underscored the historical strength and resolve of Pakistani women, referencing figures like Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, and Begum Nusrat Bhutto, who have symbolized women’s leadership and participation in public life.

The President highlighted the importance of women’s representation in various sectors, including public service, agriculture, and in roles as diverse as pilots and parliamentarians. This year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” he noted, calls for the removal of barriers that limit opportunities for women, ensuring that equal rights become practical realities across the nation.

The President reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international conventions on eliminating discrimination against women and outlined several initiatives aimed at improving women’s access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Programs such as the Benazir Income Support Programme and the Prime Minister’s Women Empowerment Package were cited as key efforts to enhance women’s financial security and digital access.

Emphasizing the role of various societal institutions, the President called for effective enforcement of laws, safe workplaces, and equal access to education and employment for women. The President concluded by asserting that the true measure of these commitments would be seen in tangible improvements in the lives of Pakistani women.
