The theme for this year, “Rights, Justice, Action, For All Women and Girls,” underscores the importance of investing in the health, education, and opportunities for women and girls as a means to benefit society as a whole.

According to United Nations Pakistan, the day arrives amid significant challenges, as many women and girls across Pakistan and regions such as Afghanistan, Iran, Palestine, and the Arab Gulf States continue to endure the impacts of conflict, displacement, and insecurity. Beyond war-torn areas, obstacles to justice, health services, education, and fundamental rights persist for women. Issues such as gender-based violence, harmful practices, and restricted access to sexual and reproductive health care remain critical barriers to their safety and dignity.

In Pakistan, one in three women experiences gender-based violence, with systemic barriers hindering their pursuit of justice. The report highlights the necessity for survivor-centered institutions that protect dignity and address emerging threats like technology-facilitated violence.

UNFPA emphasizes the role of women and girls in driving progress as health workers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in Pakistan. Their contribution is vital to national development and societal advancement. The organization reaffirms its support alongside the Government of Pakistan and civil society to ensure that every woman and girl can exercise her rights and access essential services.
