Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has highlighted the crucial role of women in the electoral process. Speaking at an event in Islamabad focused on Women Participation in Politics, he emphasized the significance of empowering women, who constitute half of Pakistan’s population.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi underscored the historic milestone of Pakistan having the first female Prime Minister in the Muslim world, showcasing the nation’s potential in women’s political empowerment. He stressed that true gender equality extends beyond legislative actions; it requires a fundamental shift in societal attitudes towards women.
The Information Minister underscored the importance of eradicating gender discrimination, starting from the household level. He acknowledged that laws alone are not sufficient to eliminate gender disparity and called for a change in mindset to ensure equal rights for women.
Solangi’s address serves as a reminder of the significant role women play in shaping the political landscape and the necessity of their active participation in the electoral process for the advancement of democracy and gender equality in Pakistan.
