Islamabad: Pakistan’s strategy to strengthen financial discipline and achieve economic stability is yielding results, with early debt repayments nearing 6000 billion rupees.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad, Adviser to the Finance Minister, announced that Pakistan has repaid approximately 5920 billion rupees ahead of schedule. This marks a significant increase from the previous record of 1133 billion rupees in early repayments made in August 2025.
Schehzad detailed that during the financial year 2025-26, Pakistan repaid around 2900 billion rupees ahead of schedule. An additional 1200 billion rupees have been repaid so far in the current financial year. He emphasized that these early repayments will help reduce the overall debt burden and alleviate repayment pressures in the future.
Schehzad also stated that Pakistan’s debt management strategy is evolving beyond traditional repayments, aiming to enhance the country’s overall fiscal position.
