Islamabad: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, convened a meeting with the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and international preacher Dr. Leif Hetland to advance discussions on promoting interfaith harmony and safeguarding minority rights at national and international levels.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to fostering mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. The Federal Minister reiterated that the country’s constitution guarantees equal rights and religious freedom for all citizens. He highlighted government efforts such as the reactivation of Interfaith Harmony Committees and the promotion of the “Paigham-e-Pakistan” narrative to counter hate speech.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad emphasized Islam’s foundational message of peace and called on religious leaders to help bridge gaps between faiths. Dr. Leif Hetland praised Pakistan’s initiatives and stressed the importance of dialogue for global peace. The meeting concluded with plans for joint programs to further interfaith tolerance.
