Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau’s efforts against corruption have achieved significant milestones in the second quarter of 2026, with a total recovery of Rs. 2.45 trillion. This achievement has elevated the six-month recovery of the year to an unprecedented Rs. 5.41 trillion. The success is highlighted by the recovery of over 1,078,283 acres of state land across various regions, including Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, and the Islamabad Capital Territory.

According to Press Information Department, NAB’s Sukkur office led the recovery efforts by reclaiming 853,678 acres of land in collaboration with the Board of Revenue Sindh and Secretary Forest, amounting to Rs. 1.01 trillion. NAB Balochistan successfully recovered 209,544 acres of forest land, including areas in Hingol National Park and Gwadar, valued at Rs. 604.64 billion. In Karachi, 11,422 acres of illegally allotted land were reclaimed, worth Rs. 467.11 billion.

Further recoveries were made by NAB Lahore and NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi, with 1,909 acres and 810 acres recovered, respectively. Additionally, NAB Multan reclaimed 920 acres of state land. In cases involving financial fraud, over 24,365 victims were compensated with returns amounting to Rs. 42.303 billion.

The Bureau has embraced technological advancements by transitioning to an E-Office system and is now moving towards an AI-based E-Investigation regime. This shift aims to enhance the detection of corruption patterns and expedite case processing, reducing human discretion. The Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy has also been established to train NAB’s workforce.

NAB’s continued commitment to eradicating corruption is demonstrated by the recovery of Rs. 16.94 trillion from March 2023 to June 2026. This achievement underscores the Bureau’s dedication to promoting transparent governance and accountability in Pakistan.
