Pakistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Observes Uzbekistan’s Parliamentary Elections


Islamabad: Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, is currently serving as a special observer at the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan. His activities have included a significant meeting with Uzbekistan’s electoral leaders and visits to polling stations in Tashkent, as well as educational sites, reflecting a deep engagement with the electoral and educational sectors of the country.



According to Press Information Department, during his observation, Mr. Raja met with Mr. Zainuddin Nizamkhojaev Makhmatovich, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan. Their discussions focused on sharing electoral experiences and enhancing cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, Mr. Raja inspected several polling stations in Tashkent, where he noted the efficiency of the voting process and the facilities provided to voters.



The visit also included a tour of the Tashkent University of Journalism and Mass Communications, where Mr. Raja received a briefing on the institution’s modern educational facilities and media labs. This visit highlighted the broader cultural and educational exchange between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.



Furthermore, Mr. Raja participated in a comprehensive briefing yesterday, hosted by the Uzbekistan Election Commission. The session, attended by electoral leaders from various countries, offered insights into Uzbekistan’s electoral system and the legal measures in place to facilitate the elections.
