RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international peace during a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. The meeting, held in Rawalpindi, focused on Pakistan’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions and the prevailing regional security environment.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Field Marshal praised the United Nations’ efforts under Secretary-General Guterres’ leadership in promoting peace and stability. The discussion covered various matters of mutual interest, including regional stability, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and terrorism-related challenges from Afghanistan.
The UN Secretary-General acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices and contributions in combating terrorism and participating in UN peacekeeping missions. He also appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing efforts towards the peaceful resolution of regional conflicts and its commitment to maintaining international peace and security.
