ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for strengthening Pakistan-Türkiye cooperation in the digital and technology sectors. During a meeting in Istanbul with Ali Taha Koç, the Chief Executive Officer of Turkcell, he outlined a vision for a Pakistan-Türkiye Digital Corridor aimed at bolstering regional digital connectivity and facilitating secure cross-border data flows.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s burgeoning digital landscape and encouraged Turkcell to consider long-term collaborations with Pakistani institutions. Areas of potential cooperation include 5G deployment, network optimization, spectrum management, digital infrastructure, and technology transfer. Additionally, he invited the company to explore partnerships in local manufacturing of telecommunications equipment, software development, and digital skills development.
Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his government’s dedication to fostering a transparent and investment-friendly environment, facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council. This initiative is designed to support strategic investments in high-value sectors, particularly information and communication technologies.
Ali Taha Koç expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda and conveyed Turkcell’s interest in exploring collaborative opportunities. He affirmed the company’s commitment to partnering with Pakistani stakeholders to create mutually beneficial alliances that align with the economic and technological goals of both Pakistan and Türkiye.
