ISLAMABAD, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar, met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened to address the crisis in Palestine.
According to Press Information Department (PID), the summit focused on the grave situation in occupied Palestine due to the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression in Gaza and the West Bank. Prime Minister Kakar expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the indiscriminate force and bombings by Israeli forces, which resulted in extensive loss of life and displacement.
President Abbas acknowledged Pakistan’s support and its firm stance on Palestinian self-determination. The leaders stressed the immediate need for an unconditional ceasefire, lifting the siege of Gaza, and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
They called for international efforts to halt further Israeli aggression and emphasized the significance of the OIC Summit in rallying global action. The leaders urged the United Nations and related bodies to enforce justice and humanity principles to end Palestinian suffering.
Prime Minister Kakar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, advocating for a two-state solution with a sovereign Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital, within pre-1967 borders, as stated in various OIC resolutions.
