TASHKENT, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, has urged member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to advocate for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at the 16th ECO Summit in Tashkent, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar brought attention to the plight of people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized Pakistan’s reliance on ECO member countries to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions.
The Prime Minister also called upon ECO members to back efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue in line with these resolutions. Additionally, he condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, appealing for ECO countries to contribute to efforts for a ceasefire in line with relevant UN resolutions.
Kakar highlighted the increasing challenges posed by religious intolerance and violence in the region, underscoring the need for focused attention on these issues. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to achieving ECO’s goals and implementing the ECO Vision 2025.
