Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has praised Pakistani farmers for attaining a record wheat yield of 70 maunds per acre, marking a significant milestone in the country’s agricultural achievements. The minister highlighted that the increased yields are a result of the use of quality seeds, balanced fertilizers, and modern agricultural techniques, which not only bolster national food security but also open avenues for wheat exports and foreign exchange earnings.
According to Press Information Department, the commendation came during the “Sarsabz Ki Jeet” event, organized by Fatima Fertilizer to honor high-performing wheat farmers. Hussain congratulated the farmers for their hard work and acknowledged the support of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Agricultural Minister Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and the Punjab Agriculture Department in fostering agricultural progress.

The minister shared his positive experience with these fertilizers and emphasized the need for quality agricultural inputs and technical guidance to enhance crop yields.
He outlined the government’s agricultural priorities, such as increasing productivity, reducing production costs, and improving farmers’ incomes. Key government initiatives were also highlighted, including improved access to agricultural financing, the approval of the National Seed Policy, and the establishment of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority. Research efforts by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and the National Agricultural Research Centre aim to advance agricultural productivity and resource efficiency.
