Karachi: Pakistan’s rice exports have reached an unprecedented level, recording a substantial increase despite ongoing tensions in the Gulf region and disruptions to international shipping routes.
According to Radio Pakistan, in September, Pakistan achieved a milestone by overtaking Vietnam, the world’s third-largest rice exporter, in terms of monthly rice exports. Pakistan exported 420,000 tonnes of rice during this period, while Vietnam exported 337,000 tonnes. This achievement marks a significant shift in the global rice export landscape.
The volume of Pakistan’s rice exports saw a 51 percent increase during the first quarter of the current financial year. This growth highlights Pakistan’s expanding presence in the global rice market and underscores the resilience of its agricultural sector in the face of regional and logistical challenges.
