Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Calls for International Attention on Kashmir Black Day

Islamabad: On the occasion of Jammu and Kashmir Black Day, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, reiterated calls for international engagement to resolve the long-standing dispute in the region. Highlighting the events of October 27, 1947, as the starting point of the conflict, Dar emphasized the ongoing struggles faced by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their pursuit of self-determination.

According to the Press Information Department, Dar stressed the importance of United Nations Security Council resolutions, which propose a peaceful settlement in line with the will of the Kashmiri people. He underscored the hardships endured by the residents of IIOJK, including restrictions on freedoms and human rights challenges. The situation has reportedly become more pronounced following India’s unilateral actions on August 5, 2019, which have drawn increased international scrutiny.

Dar highlighted the role of the international community in addressing these challenges and called for sustained engagement to ensure the fundamental rights of the people in IIOJK. The press release also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause through political, moral, and diplomatic means, emphasizing the need for a just resolution to the dispute.
