Islamabad: Pakistan expressed satisfaction with the recent decision by the Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced the country’s approval of the decision, which he stated unequivocally rejected India’s efforts to suspend the treaty.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar utilized social media platform X to communicate the country’s stance, emphasizing that the Court of Arbitration’s ruling confirms the Indus Waters Treaty remains fully operational and binding on both nations. He highlighted that Pakistan’s position has been validated by the decision, underscoring that a binding international treaty cannot be unilaterally set aside.
The Deputy Prime Minister further urged India to adhere strictly to its obligations under the treaty and the decisions of its dispute resolution mechanisms. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its rights under the Indus Waters Treaty, indicating the importance placed on the agreement by the Pakistani government.
