New York: Pakistan has raised concerns regarding the ongoing situation in the Middle East, characterized by renewed conflict and increased tensions. The statement was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council briefing focused on non-proliferation.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the recent surge in violence in the region and described it as a clear indication of the risks posed by a fragile ceasefire and the potentially severe consequences it can entail. He stressed the importance of ending the cycle of violence and instability to safeguard regional and global peace, security, and prosperity.
The Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to resolving all outstanding issues, including the Iran nuclear issue, through peaceful means, diplomatic engagement, and sustained dialogue.
