ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has assumed the chairmanship of the 9th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad. Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted the country’s commitment to translating shared goals into actionable results aimed at improving the lives of women in the Islamic world.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Tarar underscored Pakistan’s focus on promoting the exchange of experiences, fostering practical cooperation, and advancing the collective commitment to women’s empowerment. He emphasized that the empowerment of women is a national priority for Pakistan, rooted in the constitution, inspired by faith, and crucial for the country’s future.

The minister stated that Pakistan is actively working to enhance its legal, policy, and institutional frameworks to further women’s rights, opportunities, and leadership roles. Efforts are underway to expand women’s leadership, increase financial inclusion and entrepreneurship opportunities, bridge the digital divide, strengthen access to justice, and create safer and more inclusive workplaces.

Minister Tarar also stressed the importance of ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind due to conflict, poverty, or inequality. On the same occasion, Tarig Ali Bakheet, the Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs of the OIC, called for collective and concrete actions to improve the lives of women and girls across OIC member states.
