New York: Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding in the region, emphasizing its role in promoting lasting peace. The country’s stance was articulated by Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during a UN Security Council meeting focusing on cooperation between the United Nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad addressed the council amid escalating tensions in the region, highlighting the initiation of attacks against Iran as a catalyst for rising instability. He noted that these developments pose significant risks to both regional security and the global economy. Ahmad condemned all assaults on civilians and infrastructure, stressing that such actions must cease immediately to pave the way for de-escalation and the cessation of hostilities.

Ahmad also criticized ongoing attacks on GCC countries, reiterating Pakistan’s condemnation of these actions. He commended the GCC nations for their strategic restraint despite provocations and aggression. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of GCC states.

At a critical juncture, Ahmad underscored the necessity of restraint, diplomacy, and dialogue. He noted Pakistan’s active engagement in diplomatic efforts to support these objectives, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the current tensions.
