Islamabad: Pakistan marked the seventh anniversary of Youm-e-Istehsal by expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and denouncing what it calls the illegal Indian occupation. The observance underscores the ongoing struggle for self-determination by Kashmiris and calls attention to human rights issues in the region.

According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and States and Frontier Regions, Engr Amir Muqam, issued a statement emphasizing the sustained hardships faced by the Kashmiri people under Indian rule. The minister highlighted significant concerns, including restrictions on civil liberties, the incarceration of Kashmiri leaders, prolonged detentions, and changes affecting the region’s demographic and political landscape.

The statement also acknowledged the determination and resilience of the Kashmiri people in maintaining their identity and heritage despite challenges. The minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for Kashmiri self-determination and upholding their fundamental rights through moral, political, and diplomatic means.

Furthermore, the minister called upon the international community to recognize the Jammu and Kashmir dispute’s impact on regional peace and stability. He urged global actors to promote human rights protection and support a peaceful resolution in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and international law.
