Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has reiterated the country’s commitment to regional peace and stability while emphasizing its readiness to defend its sovereignty with decisive measures. Asif’s statement comes amid heightened tensions with India, as shared in a post on X.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Defence Minister criticized recent comments by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, suggesting they reflect strategic anxiety as the anniversary of a disputed operation in Pahlgam approaches. Asif argued that the operation had not withstood international scrutiny and highlighted what he described as New Delhi’s reliance on fabricated crises.
Asif further stated that India’s rhetoric is part of a recurring pattern of externalizing internal issues and provoking escalation for political gains. He cautioned against miscalculations, referencing historical events, and warned of a more forceful response if provoked. The Defence Minister also advised India to address its internal strategic and diplomatic challenges rather than seeking conflict.
