Islamabad: Pakistan is ramping up its efforts to invest in girls’ education, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and empowerment, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar announced during a state banquet. The event was held in Islamabad in honor of delegates attending the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar praised the Assistant Secretary General of the OIC, the OIC Secretariat, and the women participants for their contributions to the conference. He emphasized that empowering women is essential for strengthening the foundation of every nation. Highlighting the transformative role of Islam in elevating the status of women, Dar noted that principles established by the religion remain relevant today.

He reaffirmed women’s rights to education, property, inheritance, and participation in society, citing the Constitution of Pakistan as a document that ensures their full participation in national life. Dar also expressed solidarity with the women of Palestine, particularly in Gaza, and called attention to the suffering of women in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the interim authorities in Afghanistan to restore Afghan women’s fundamental rights, aligning with Islamic teachings.

During the conference, Minister for Law, Justice, and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted the significance of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women as a platform for dialogue and cooperation. He underscored the shared values and unity that define Islamic cooperation, which the conference aims to enhance.
