ISLAMABAD: In a meeting held in Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the United Nations and its central role in global affairs. The discussion took place during a visit by Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett, a candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to multilateralism and the foundational principles of the UN Charter. He highlighted the importance of respecting international law and treaties, stressing the need for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions relating to the ongoing issues in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
Furthermore, Dar advocated for reforms within the United Nations to address emerging global challenges and to better cater to the needs of developing nations. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s ongoing support for the UN’s objectives and its commitment to addressing international disputes through dialogue and cooperation.
