Pakistan PM Stresses Plebiscite as Sole Method for Kashmir’s Future

Islamabad, Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has emphasized that the future of Kashmir and its people can only be determined through a plebiscite, as outlined in the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions. He stated that neither a country’s High Court nor Supreme Court has the authority to decide on this matter.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Prime Minister Kakar, during his interaction with participants at the 12th National Balochistan Workshop, announced his plans to attend a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. From this platform, he intends to lead a movement against the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of Article 370, arguing that laws cannot create colonies, though they can establish occupation temporarily.

The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to support the Kashmiris in their struggle, pledging to continue providing moral, political, and diplomatic backing. He highlighted the intention to raise the Kashmir issue at the European Union and other multilateral forums, underscoring the international dimension of the dispute.

In a separate interview with a private television channel, Prime Minister Kakar commented on the Indian Supreme Court’s decision regarding Article 370. He expressed his view that history would judge this verdict, asserting that freedom is not only the right of Kashmiris but also their ultimate destiny.

Prime Minister Kakar also affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to the Kashmir cause, noting the unanimous support from the Pakistani nation for their Kashmiri brethren, transcending political affiliations.
