KARACHI: Pakistan Navy Day is being observed today to honor the heroes of the 1965 war, who fought valiantly against a larger adversary. This day pays tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to defend the nation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the commemoration marks “Operation Dwarka,” also known as “Operation SOMNATH,” during which Pakistan Navy’s seven major warships carried out a daring mission inside enemy territory. The operation resulted in the destruction of significant shore installations, including an Indian radar station and a radio beacon at Dwarka, dealing a blow to Indian pride.
The 1965 war also highlighted the role of Pakistan Navy’s submarine, Ghazi, which emerged as a deterrent, showcasing Pakistan’s operational strength and signaling a formidable threat to those with hostile intentions towards the country.
