Lahore: Pakistan is effectively managing the global fuel crisis without any shortage of petroleum products, announced Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting. Speaking at a news conference in Lahore alongside Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Tarar emphasized the government’s efforts to maintain a steady fuel supply amidst rising global oil prices and regional supply chain disruptions.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for closely overseeing the situation, including seeking daily updates from all relevant ministries. The government has implemented targeted subsidies worth 129 billion rupees over the past three weeks to alleviate the public’s burden. A digital wallet system has been introduced to ensure the transparent distribution of these subsidies, particularly for buses and goods transport.

Tarar also highlighted the Prime Minister’s initiative to convene meetings with leadership from all four provinces, aiming to provide relief to citizens. The measures have resulted in a reduction of petrol prices by 80 rupees per liter. He urged the public to conserve energy and use fuel judiciously.

Dr. Musadik Malik reiterated the government’s commitment to offering targeted subsidies to deserving segments of society, despite multiple challenges. Special efforts have been made to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products nationwide. Additionally, the Prime Minister announced a subsidy of 1,500 rupees per acre for farmers and a subsidy of one hundred thousand rupees for passenger buses to prevent fare hikes.
