Dhaka: The High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka observed Kashmir ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’ to mark the anniversary of India’s actions on August 5, 2019, which included the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A. The commemorative event was led by High Commissioner Imran Haider, who welcomed attendees and facilitated the reading of messages from key Pakistani leaders.

According to Press Information Department, messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were shared during the event. The leaders reiterated Pakistan’s stance that India’s unilateral actions cannot alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir or change ground realities. They emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their quest for self-determination as per the UN Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The messages also appealed to the international community to uphold the UN Charter and international law, ensuring that the Kashmiri people can exercise their right to self-determination. The event included a photo exhibition highlighting the plight of Kashmiris and a documentary showcasing human rights violations in the region. Attendees, including Pakistani community members and media representatives, expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Special prayers were offered for the victims of the conflict and for the continued perseverance of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for justice and freedom.
