Pakistan Hails CPEC’s Role in Energy Sector and Economic Stability, Tarar Asserts at Islamabad Ceremony

Islamabad: At a ceremony in Islamabad today, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar highlighted the critical impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Pakistan’s energy sector and overall economic reforms. He celebrated the enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, emphasizing its significance as the two countries continue to support each other through various challenges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar expressed his gratitude towards the Chinese leadership and companies for their role in supporting Pakistan’s journey towards economic stability. He credited the CPEC energy projects with playing a pivotal role in helping Pakistan overcome its energy crisis. This cooperation, he noted, has led to a significant reduction in inflation to 6.9 percent and a decrease in the policy rate, underscoring the positive trajectory of the country’s economy.

Tarar also spoke about the anticipated impact of the second phase of CPEC, which he believes will be transformative for the region through the establishment of industrial zones. He mentioned the upcoming visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Pakistan to participate in the SCO summit, marking the premier’s first visit in eleven years, as a symbol of the strong bilateral relations and mutual development ambitions of the two nations.

Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, also speaking at the ceremony, echoed Tarar’s sentiments, noting China’s pivotal role in advancing energy projects under CPEC. Aurangzeb affirmed that Pakistan’s economy is moving in the right direction and lauded China’s development model as exemplary for the world.
